A mandatory admission fee could be introduced to non-New York City residents to create more revenue for the Met. Confronted with a multi-million-dollar budget deficit. The City’s commissioner for Cultural Affairs says his department has discussed ways the museum could adjust its ticket policy. The current admission policy asks for a suggested fee of $25 for adults, $17 for seniors and $12 for students. A change in the Met’s admissions policy could also have an impact on tourism, which both museum and city officials are taking into account.
