NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Kathryn Mennone and Al Mennone, the owners of Stomp N Crush a home brewing supply store, talk to Jim Watkins about making beer right in your own home.

You need some basic equipment (pot, buckets, hose, cleanser, bottles) and then the ingredients for that particular style.

You can make everything from a light cream ale, to lagers, to heavy porters, stouts, IPA’s and that’s just to name a few.  Your equipment will run about $150 to get started with the basics.

First – you will need a big stock pot, fill it with about 2 gallon of water, steep your grains like this, (grains come in all kinds of flavors – from light to dark. This is what imparts a lot of the flavor and color in the beer.
