The “Brooklyn Flag Project” kicked off this month with a call for designs honoring the architecture, landscape and people that distinguish the borough’s 50 neighborhoods.
The Sunset Park-based online retailer UncommonGoods hopes the best flag design will translate into profits when a winning artist is selected sometime in August. UncommonGoods, will produce and sell the flag on its website and present the first-place winner with $1,000 and royalties on sales. A panel of judges including former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will pick the favorites in August and the public will vote for the winner online.
