Free Ride For Some MTA Subway Lines On Sandy Anniversary

MetrocardSome of the MTA’s hardest-hit subway lines will be free on Tuesday, October 29, the one year Anniversary of Sandy.  A train riders in the Rockaways and R train riders in Brooklyn will ride for free. From 12:01 Tuesday morning until 11:59 Tuesday evening, riders entering stations on the A line between Howard Beach and the Rockaway Peninsula and riders entering stations on the R line between Bay Ridge-95th Street and Court Street will not be charged a fare. This is a Thank you from the MTA to straphangers for taking the hardships of the storm in stride. It would’ve been nice if it was FREE for all subway lines but we did get a break after the storm when the MTA wasn’t charging for a few days: LINK
