Do you remember Ralph McDaniels of Video Music Box?  I’m sure many of us do and especially back in the day when we use to call to request videos using that 1-900 number running up our phone bills, like we were paying the bill. Besides that, it helped launched the careers of many Hip-Hop Artist and is known as the Best Local R&B/Hip-Hop Regional show of all time.

Today,
The
creator and host of the iconic music video program “Video Music Box,” is celebrating the show’s 30th anniversary. To celebrate his anniversary McDaniels is kicking off a year of celebrating Video Music Box’s legacy, most notably the 2013 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival will be dedicated to the legacy of the show’s 30-year history.

As for the future of Video Music Box, McDaniels feels like the show needs to be around to help the next generation of artists. You can still catch Video Music Box Wednesdays at 11:30 p.m. on NYCTV/WNYC-TV
